MATT SORUM Hopes There Will Be Reunion Of Classic GUNS N' ROSES Lineup

December 7, 2011

According to Daily Telegraph, drummer Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES, THE CULT) lost his passport on his way from Mexico to Los Angeles, which nearly forced him to miss his appearance as the special guest headliner for the Hard Rock Caf opening last night (Tuesday, December 6) down in Darling Harbour, a locality of the city center of Sydney, Australia.

"Yeah man. I lost my passport somewhere between Mexico and L.A. and missed my flight," Sorum said. "But [customs officials] somehow had it all along and the fine people at Qantas got me on the last flight out."

Sorum was scheduled to jam with a bunch of rock legends, including former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans and ROSE TATTOO's Angry Anderson, at last night's event.

When asked how touring is different now compared to that when he was a member of GUNS N' ROSES, he said, "We were much younger then, we could get away with much more shenanigans (laughs). It's before we had lives and responsibilities. I got kids and stuff now. Stuff just changes. But the music doesn't. The music is still the grand icing on the cake."

On the topic of whether the classic lineup of GUNS N' ROSES will ever get back together, Sorum said, "I hope so. We're about to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, which is pretty cool, but I can't really say about another tour. It's down to Slash [guitar] and Axl [Rose, vocals] to patch things up."
